About the Wheatsheaf

The Wheatsheaf is in Wilton, three miles west of Salisbury, and is a Grade II listed building. We’re still researching its history, but we think it was built in the early 1800s.

On 29 August 1919, the Wheatsheaf Inn was sold at auction for £2,100 by the Right Honourable the Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery to Matthews and Co, a brewery based in Gillingham, Dorset.

Matthews and Co later became Hall and Woodhouse, a brewery from Blandford Forum, Dorset.

Since 2001, the Wheatsheaf has been a privately owned free house.
